The undead king arc is the first major story arc of the anime. This arc revolves around the story of an average salaryman, Momonga, who spends his time playing an online multiplayer game called Yggdrasil, which is about to shut down. Momonga decides to play this game until the server shuts down. After the server shuts down at midnight, the game does not log him out. Momonga, being the final participant, becomes one of the most powerful guilds in the game. To reach out to other players of Yggdrasil who might be facing the same problem as him, he adopts the name Ainz Ooal Gown and starts exploring this new and strange gaming world.
The plot revolves around many exciting characters and is mainly based on portraying Ainz Ooal Gown (“Lord Ainz”) as the supreme monarch with no competition in terms of might and power. Lord Ainz’s strength has been developed naturally and is displayed throughout the series, making him win our hearts. The anime cleverly employs two very distinct voices for Lord Ainz: one, his voice from the “real world,” which we learn represents his innermost thoughts, and two, the authoritative voice of his video game persona.

The plot continues from where it ended in season 1. Ainz is still trying to figure out things about the world’s rulers. The arc introduces Zaryusu Shasha, a Lizardman of the Green Claw Tribe, trying to unite and save the lizardman tribes from complete demolition for fighting against the undead forces of Nazarick. To make them his allies and submit to him, Ainz tries to conquer their territory and takes up a significant part of the first half of the season. Later in the arc, we learn about Sebas Tian and how different he was from the other former NCPs, from the tomb. Sebas has always had more compassion for humans. Later in the season, Sebas travels to the nation’s capital in search of further hints about the culture and those in power. Eight Fingers is a shadowy organization holding power to rule the whole country secretly. Sebas Tian unknowingly bumps onto this group. Nazarick plans to eliminate them due to different factors, while Demiurge devises a strategy. Momon is tasked with aiding Blue Roses, an adamantine-ranked adventurer group that works for the Kingdom, in taking down the other half of them as part of his demonic force. Although the plot moves relatively leisurely, the season’s conclusion was incredibly gratifying.
Previously on Overlord Season 3
The arc in season 3 is about Foresight, a working group who volunteered to explore and investigate a mysterious large tomb. The start of season 3 of Overlord starts with Ainz Ooal Gown’s & concern for fellow floor guards. Two plot of season 3 is divided into two arcs. One arc shows Enri and Npheria & their progress concerning Ainz’s ambitions in Carne Village. The other arc is about the Empire’s actions and illustrates how they are linked to Ainz’s progress in establishing world rule. The anime world built for Overlord is certainly of GOD level with its originality. It gives depth to the world outside of Nazarick and several other characters, making you care about them and wonder why and how they will interact with Ainz in the future and if they will survive this encounter. This was the Overlord Season 1 to 3 Recap.
