The photo above shows the visuals of the top two groups of each entertainment. I only showed two groups because YG doesn’t have more than that, as far as I know. Also, I used red carpet photos to be fair because they don’t edit it too much or add filters. Some of these idols are unofficially the visual of their groups but is widely known and always regarded as the visual, so I’ll consider that.
Under SM Entertainment, Irene is the visual of Red Velvet, while Winter is the visual of the rookie group, Vespa. Irene is known to be the “original visual” or the epitome of female Korean beauty standards (KBS). Winter also fits the KBS perfectly. SM definitely conforms to KBS when determining the visual of the group. Their visuals look like dolls, with unreal, soft, dainty, sometimes cold, and fierce looks, as you can see with Irene and Winter’s photos across the internet.
For YG Entertainment, Sandara Park or Dara is considered the visual of the now-disbanded group, 2ne1, while Jisoo is the visual of the famous group BLACKPINK. Dara peaked during the early 2000s, wherein she’s known to be a great performer, actress and beautiful idol. Her personality is more regarded than her visuals. Meanwhile, Jisoo is one of the visual goddesses of the K-pop industry, alongside Irene and Tzuyu. This is because she also fits the KBS well. It is safe to say YG also conforms to the KBS when it comes to its visuals but doesn’t strictly adhere to it. Dara was wonderful in her younger days, but her performance and personality were more acknowledged, while Jisoo always goes viral for her visuals.
Lastly, under JYP Entertainment, Tzuyu is the visual of TWICE, while Yuna is the seeing of ITZY. Tzuyu is one of the k-pop idols whose visuals broke the internet. Literally. For years her visuals kept on attracting fans. As I said earlier, she was always praised and was named one of the visual goddesses. Her case is one of the cases where one group member outshines the group so much, which can be a bad thing, but that was before. On the other hand, Yuna is known to fit the KBS too. Many fans claim and praise her because she did not have any plastic surgery done, as seen in her beloved pre-debut photos; Tzuyu is also known for having natural beauty. The fans admire her for that. With this, it’s noticeable that JYP opts for naturally beautiful visuals. They don’t necessarily conform to KBS.
